Michael is a leading textile artist, bridging the gap between art and craft. He shared his practice while he was working with UCLan textile students on Ghosts within the Machines, a commission at Standfast & Barracks, a fabric printing company in Lancaster.
Michael Brennand-Wood Ghosts in the Machines : designs created from the ‘ghost’ stains on the wall, evidence of previous use. UCLan students made the tiles. His work looks pretty, but it is in fact Pretty Deadly. What first appears to be lace or flowers
conceals of skulls, bombers and other images of war. What seems to be lace may be metal. Very interesting. He was full of enthusiasm and clearly enjoys sharing his experience.
