Rufford Old Hall and Cedar Farm Galleries

Called into Rufford Old Hall today to sample their delicious Lancashire Tea, and was delighted to see a small collection of pottery, which included some 19th century Staffordshire pieces. Having been to The Potteries Museum and read a couple of books I’m now an expert, of course!!! I’d love a creamer.

Then went on to Cedar Farm, Mawdesley. I was sad to see that Northern Potter, Babs Taylor is retiring.  I’ve enjoyed her pottery and have bought several things from her studio/shop at Cedar Farm over the years.  Doing the MA, I now look at her work differently, noticing smaller items she sells – beakers, jewellery, cards, etc.  Affordable items for the impulse buy and small pressie.

There was also sculpture on display – Suzanne Coombes Ceramics and several stone and marble carvings.
