Brian Gallagher’s illustration of the realities of conditions in the cotton industry resonates with my research into the history of Preston. There were 50 Cotton Mills in Preston, the nearest to uni being Fylde Mill adjacent to the entrance of Fylde Road car park. Makes on wonder about the lives of the people who lived in Brougham, Nelson and Haydock streets where Victoria building is stands.
